開車在A82，沿著Loch Lomond湖邊，彎彎曲曲的路，加上旁邊一別於高地更北邊的短樹叢和岩壁，參天而包覆路徑的植物相，很有北橫的感覺。
Loch Lomond是全蘇格蘭最大的淡水湖，對於去過湖區 (Lake District) 的我而言，我覺得湖區的景致更漂亮；但是若跟高地更北邊或是進入Isle of Skye 路上的湖比起來，北邊荒原上的湖畔偶爾來一棟坐落在山腳下的房子，更顯詩意，也符合了小時候常常唱的『我家門前有小河，後面有山坡，山坡上面野花多....』。
來到這，就要提到有一首很有名的蘇格蘭古民謠Loch Lomond (羅莽湖畔)，網路上可以找到不同版本的故事: (引用自wildflower)
在英格蘭與蘇格蘭交戰時期，一位戰俘即將被處死，他寫下這首歌，說他即將”take the low road”，所謂”low road”就是靈魂到陰間必須通過的道路，而他再也無法在魂牽夢縈那家鄉的羅莽湖畔，見到自己的愛人。
一樣是在英格蘭與蘇格蘭交戰時期，由某位在倫敦被處死的戰俘的情人寫下此曲，這位死者的頭，被公開展示，一路由英格蘭的倫敦回到蘇格蘭的格拉斯哥，循 著”high road”﹝最重要的路﹞而行，而死者的家屬與情人，則沿著”low road”﹝平民、農民走的路﹞，一路伴隨著死者回到他心愛的家鄉。
